The preferred nearest airport is Frankfurt Airport. From there, you can reach Karlsruhe by an hourly connection via ICE. Other airports that are nearby are Baden Airpark and Stuttgart Airport. From there, you can reach Karlsruhe by train, as described below.
You can plan your trip to Karlsruhe by train with the Travel Service of Deutsche Bahn. The preferred station in Karlsruhe is the main station (“Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof”). Another possible option is the train station in Durlach (“Bahnhof Karlsruhe-Durlach”). From there, you can travel to KIT via public transport as described below.

If you arrive at the main station of Karlsruhe (“Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof”), you can take the trams
The two tram stations closest to KIT are “Kronenplatz” (Fritz-Erler Str. or Kaiserstr.) and “Durlacher Tor / KIT Campus Süd”.
If you arrive at the train station in Durlach (“Bahnhof Karlsruhe-Durlach”), you can take the trams
or from the nearby tram station “Auer Str./Dr. W. Schwabe”, you can take the trams

Leave the federal motorway A5 at the exit 44 “Karlsruhe-Durlach” in direction Karlsruhe. Always keep driving straight ahead on the “Durlacher Allee” (direction “Stadtmitte”) until you find signs saying “Universität”. From Monday to Friday before 5:30 p.m., driving onto the campus is restricted. If you plan to drive on the campus by car, please contact our secretary beforehand. Alternatively, you can park at the "Waldparkplatz" from which you can reach ITP by foot in a few minutes.
