Jet fragmentation from an exactly soluble model
Abstract
We use an Abelian, exactly soluble, 1+1 dimensional model to study the dynamical string breaking in high energy processes in QCD. We focus on the study of jet fragmentation and hadronization in electron-positron annihilation. The Abelian nature of the string is assumed based on the picture of confinement due to the dual Meissner effect. The justification for dimensional reduction comes from considering very high energy jets. Reasonable agreement with the data is found.

Spin Correlations in Beyond Standard Model Cascade Decays
Abstract (JG)
In this thesis, the realization of spin correlations in Monte Carlo event generators is investigated with an emphasis on the program package WHIZARD [1]. After a review of the narrow-width approximation for scalar particles, it is extended to vector particles.Next the algorithm of Ref. [2] is discussed that implements spin correlations in an event generator. Finally the angular distribution of a strongly spin correlated supersymmetric example process is calculated analytically and compared to the simulation results from WHIZARD. Good agreement between the analytical calculation and the simulation is found for the considered scattering process but a clear discrepancy arises for the decay process.

Abstract (MM)
In this bachelor thesis bounds on model parameters of an effective field theory are found by computing the partial decay widths of Higgs- and Z-Boson decays and comparing them to experimental results from LHC and LEP. This gives constraints on new physics models.
