REORGANIZED COURSE FOR SS2020 Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the standard GR course has been reorganized as follows: The normal lecture is replaced by self-study of a textbook (see Literature). At the planned times of the lecture, there will be a brief video contact (see Lecture). The exercise part of this course is more or less standard, with sheets handed in (now by email) and graded (if technically possible), followed by discussion (now by video conference).
You must register yourself for lectures and exercises separately.
This is obligatory and must be done in campus.studium.kit.edu
by 19.04.2020, 12:00. In case of technical problems, contact
Dr. Emelyanov

Certificate |
At this moment, we have the following procedure in mind: You get a certificate (Schein) for 10 ECTS if you attend most lectures (16 or more, out of a total of 22) and if, at the end of the course, you have obtained 50% of the total number of points of the graded exercise sheets. For example, if four exercise sheets were graded with a total number of points of 48, then you get the certificate if you have obtained 24 points or more. But unforeseen circumstances may arise and we may have to adapt or change the procedure. |
Literature |
The course will be based on the following textbook: Steven Weinberg, Gravitation and Cosmology: Principles and Applications of the General Theory of Relativity (J. Wiley & Sons, Inc., 1972). If you do not have a copy of this book, then contact Dr. Emelyanov beforehand for some suggestions. |
