Round table discussion at Confinement 11, St. Petersburg

Michael Rauch

Welcome to my home page.

Currently I am a PostDoc at the ITP (Institut für Theoretische Physik) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.

Since March 2018, I am theory convener of the WG1 VBF sub-group of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group.

In December 2016, I have completed my habilitation at the KIT and have been subsequently appointed as "Privatdozent" at the KIT.

My main research interests are phenomenology at the LHC, in particular QCD and parton-shower effects to electroweak process in and beyond the Standard Model, and the development of automated tools for computations.

Before coming to Karlsruhe I was a SUPA PostDoc in the PPT (Particle Physics Theory) group at the University of Edinburgh. There I have also organized the Journal Club of the group.

Earlier on I did my PhD at the Max-Planck-Institut für Physik in Munich. My supervisor there was Prof. Wolfgang Hollik. My undergraduate years I spent at the Technische Universität Munich and, for half a year during the winter term 2000/01, as an exchange student already in Edinburgh. My undergrad (Diplom) thesis at the TUM was supervised by Prof. Manuel Drees.

By the way, this picture on the right-hand side was taken on top of Arthur's Seat right in the middle of Edinburgh. The picture on the top is the castle of Karlsruhe, on one of the rare days when we actually have snow here.

A few years ago I have participated in a DFG-funded public outreach program:
As part of the InsideScience project we have done a few short movies to explain particle physics. More details and links to the movies are available at the Inside Science YouTube Channel.

From 28-30 August 2017, the Multi-Boson Interactions workshop (MBI2017) is going to take place in Karlsruhe, where I am part of the local organization committee. More information and registration (deadline: 14 August 2017) can be found at mbi2017.particle.kit.edu.
