13.10.2025: Phenikaa International Conference 2025: Margarete Mühlleitner as keynote speaker (posted on: 20.10.2025)

Margarete Mühlleitner was invited as a keynote speaker to the Vietnamese conference “Phenikaa International Conference 2025: Celebrating 100 years of quantum physics” which took place in Hanoi in October 2025, and she gave an exciting talk about “High-Energy Physics from a Theoretical Perspective: Major Results, Recent Results & Future Projects”, discussing the current progress and new perspecties about the Higgs boson, dark matter, and gravitational waves.

 

01.10.2025: Margarete Mühlleitner elected as dean of physics, Gudrun Heinrich new ITP director (posted on: 20.10.2025)

On October 1st, Margarete Mühlleitner has been elected as the first female dean of the physics faculty at KIT. At the same time, Gudrun Heinrich took over the position as institute director of the ITP. We thank Margarete Mühlleitner for her time as ITP director in the past years and we wish them both the best of luck for their new roles!

 

07.07.2025: Otto-Haxel Prize for PhD Thesis of Lisa Biermann (posted on: 15.07.2025)

Lisa Biermann has received the Otto-Haxel prize for her outstanding dissertation on “First-Order Electroweak Phase Transitions Beyond the Standard Model and Gravitational Waves”. The award ceremony took place during the summer reception of the KIT Freundeskreis und Fördergesellschaft e.V. (KFG) on 07.07.2025. Congratulations!

27.06.2025: Schwätznachmittag in Waldstetten: Public Talk by Margarete Mühlleitner (posted on: 15.07.2025)

Margarete Mühlleitner gave a public outreach talk about the beginnings of the Universe at the Schwätznachmittag in her home village Waldstetten, a public event taking place every month, on 27.06.2025. It was very well received by the audience, and sparked a lot of interest in the topic.
